The Herald was called out to witness what residents called ‘an inconvenience to the entire community’. Upon arrival, residents were emptying out the water in the street using buckets while others opted to hire a generator-powered pump.

According to Randfontein Toekomsrus Taxi Association (RTTA) representative David Moeng, the water clogs up every rainy season.

“We have a problem here with flooding every rainy season. There is no drain in this area. The big problem is that people get stuck with their cars. Flooding also caused unnecessary traffic. Even our tyres burst because we don’t know where the potholes are,” Moeng said.

He added hence they decided to take it upon themselves to block off the road, hire a generator and drain the water.
