Recently, residents embarked on a ‘Gatvol’ protest at the municipal office to address their concerns with service delivery.

Toekomsrus resident Sharodon Leslie shared that she struggles with potholes and water delivery.

Our water is switched off daily and only switched on during the night. Even the crèches are left without water.

“When we go to the clinic, services there are refused. We truly hope that something comes from this protest. The municipality has to look at our struggles. I hope that we can all come together as a unit,” she expressed.

Another resident, Petro Muller, who lives in Homelake, stated she is also disappointed by the lack of service delivery.

“I struggle with emphysema and need to be on oxygen machines. When a power outage occurs, my machines stop working. I have lost so much food because it just rots in my fridge. I am a widow having to struggle with this.

“I just hope that the right thing will be done,” Muller explained.
