Mohlakeng fights back at potholes

A local foundation and residents of a pothole-riddled street recently took hands to fix Sekhukhuni Street.

Residents of Sekhukhuni Street, in collaboration with the Modimo O Teng Foundation, jumped in to repair potholes plaguing their street.

Kopano Hosene, founder of the foundation and a resident of Sekhukhuni Street, stated the initiative exemplifies community spirit and collaboration.

He explained that each household contributed R10 to address the ongoing issue of potholes troubling their streets. The foundation, in turn, provided materials and guidance, and they were able to not only fill the potholes, but also ‘strengthen the bonds within the community’.

“It was incredible to see neighbours come together, showcasing the power of collaboration in making our streets safer and more accessible.

We believe this initiative highlights the importance of community involvement. We would like to inspire other neighbourhoods to take similar action,’ said Kopano.
