Other areas where pumping has been suspended due to critically low water levels include:
• Finsbury Reservoir – 40% capacity
• Westergloor Reservoirs 1, 2, and 3 – 20% capacity each
• Greenhills Reservoirs 1 and 2 – 20% capacity
Waterpan Reservoir is currently at 47% capacity, while Westonaria Reservoir 1 is at 80%, Reservoir 2 at 45%, and Reservoir 3 at 88%. Hillshaven Reservoir is currently at 85% capacity.
Montshiwa stated that due to Rand Water restrictions causing 0% water levels in Bekkersdal, Venterspos, and parts of Westonaria, residents currently have no water access.
“Pumps have also been switched off in Randfontein, affecting supply to Mohlakeng and Toekomsrus. The municipality will deploy water tanks to ensure continued access,” he said.
