RWCLM advises residents on scheduled substation maintenance

Eskom will service transformers at Randfontein, but the local municipality says electricity supply will remain unaffected.

Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM) has warned residents of planned maintenance on transformers at the Randfontein Industries Substation, which will be carried out by Eskom.

RWCLM spokesperson Phillip Montshiwa confirmed that maintenance will begin on November 18 with Transformer 1. Maintenance will continue on Transformer 2 from November 19–21, on Transformer 3AB on November 25, and on Transformer 4AB on November 27.

Montshiwa noted that Eskom confirmed only one transformer will be offline at a time, meaning no electricity supply interruptions are expected in the surrounding areas.

“We kindly request all residents and businesses to use electricity sparingly and responsibly during this period to support overall system stability,” Montshiwa added.
