New beginnings for 50 families in Westonaria

Fifty families in Westonaria are celebrating new beginnings after receiving homes, as government continues its efforts to reduce the housing backlog.

Families in Westonaria are celebrating a life-changing milestone after being handed keys to their newly built homes at the Westonaria Borwa Mega Project on Wednesday, July 15.

The handover forms part of the government’s ongoing efforts to address the housing backlog and provide dignified living conditions for qualifying beneficiaries across the region. The Gauteng MEC for Human Settlements, Tasneem Motara, together with Rand West City Executive Mayor William Matsheke, handed over 50 newly built homes to the beneficiaries during an official ceremony attended by community members and local leaders.

Another beneficiary, Collen Motlhabane, who lives with a chronic medical condition, was so overwhelmed with joy that he danced and leapt inside his new home.
