Electricity woes in Mohlakeng continue

Rand West City Local Municipality cannot say how long the downtime will last, but contract workers are trying to finish repairs today (August 1).

Electricity supply is heavily affected in Mohlakeng, particularly in Extension 5 due to a faulty underground cable.

This is according to Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM) spokesperson Phillip Montshiwa who said the downtime is currently unknown but contract workers are trying to finish repairs today (August 1).

“We are currently faced with the only option of replacing the underground feeder cable with an overhead line. We will monitor the situation and update residents on any progress made.

“In the meantime, we are trying to minimise disruptions to our customers. We understand the inconvenience caused and we apologise for any potential disruptions,” said Montshiwa.
