Residents about Workers’ Day

Some community members express their opinions about Workers' Day.

The Randfontein Herald asked some community members how they feel about Workers’ Day (May 1), and they shared their personal opinions.

Tilla and Louis Nel described the day as a waste of time.

“The economy is in ruins. Everyone just wants a vacation.

We have had three long weekends already. If a person owns a business, they have to pay the staff extra to work on the holidays. The worker wins and the employer loses,” they explained.

Jean van Rooyen enjoys Workers Day since it is also his birthday.

“I enjoy it very much because it means I get the day off from work on my birthday. I also think people need the holidays to rest and take a break from society,” he expressed.
