Healing and hope through the animal sanctuary’s outreach

No More Tears recently made hearts and paws happy after successfully sterilising 24 pets through their charitable outreach.

Thanks to No More Tears Animal Sanctuary, eight families can now give their beloved pets a healthier future after their recent sterilisation outreach.

No More Tears volunteer Clarisse Kruger explained that over the last few months, they received multiple requests from animal lovers who needed their help. Thus, the outreach was started to support these families and their pets.

The outreach officially kicked off on June 16, and the last animal was successfully sterilised on June 26.

The organisation was able to help sterilise 24 pets. Veterinarian Johan Naudé and his team from Randfontein Animal Hospital did not hesitate to execute the sterilisation procedures. Silverstar and Hot Cares sponsored 20 sterilisations.

“This campaign has not only helped to reduce unwanted animal numbers in the future, but has also made an enormous difference in the lives of these families and their pets,” Clarisse stated happily.

Not only has this outreach successfully helped 24 animals in need, but it also served as an awareness campaign about the importance of sterilisation. Clarisse explained that educating people about why sterilisation is essential helps prevent overpopulation and reduces the number of animals on the streets.

No More Tears will be tracking the outcome of this outreach by keeping a good record of the animals as well as doing regular follow-ups with the owners.
“After an animal is sterilised, details are kept in a database. We then contact the owners a few months later to ask if there have been any health issues and whether they may have other animals that need help.”

The organisation also looks for changes in the community, such as unwanted litter or stray animals on the streets.

“These observations, along with feedback from residents and veterinarians, help us see if the campaign is making a lasting difference and where help is still needed,” she emphasised.

The organisation is currently busy with its second phase of the sterilisation project.

“We invite everyone to be a part of this important project and make a difference in the lives of these animals and their owners. Volunteers are always welcome and would be appreciated,” she expressed.

Individuals can support the next sterilisation campaign in a variety of ways, such as contributing directly to the cost of sterilisations or by helping to spread and share the organisation’s work.
