Wings of Inspiration receives R90k injection from Silverstar

Wings of Inspiration, which serves vulnerable women, children and the elderly, received vital funding thanks to a creative gaming promotion run by Silverstar.

For non-profit organisations like Wings of Inspiration, every cent makes a difference – and thanks to a generous donation from Silverstar Casino, their mission just got a powerful lift.

Silverstar recently donated R90 000 to the local organisation, which provides critical support through a women and children’s shelter and day care centre in Krugersdorp, as well as frailcare and elderly care centres in Randfontein.

“This contribution goes a long way in helping us care for the most vulnerable members of our community,” said Gerda Bekker, general manager at one of the centres. She expressed heartfelt thanks to Silverstar, saying it meant the world to have their work recognised.

The funds were raised through Silverstar’s Winning with Wings promotion, held in honour of the charity.

According to Silverstar’s communications manager, Chanelle Willmot, the casino committed an initial R50 000 donation, then added R10 for every Tombola draw ticket entered on the final day of the promotion, June 29.

“We wanted to create something fun and meaningful, where guests could participate and know they were helping a great cause at the same time,” Chanelle said.

“We are grateful for the number of entrants at the final draw as they ensured an additional R40 000 could be donated towards the charity.”

They had several gaming promotions that went to well-deserving charities, including Krugersdorp Child Welfare, Cansa and recently the National Council of and for Persons with Disabilities, which received R75 000 earlier this year.

“We will have our Power of Pink gaming promotion towards the end of the year, where we will donate a set amount, plus an amount per ticket entered into the tombola for the final draw towards Cansa in the fight against breast cancer.

“We are committed to uplifting the West Rand community and focus on humanitarian, welfare, healthcare, medical and educational needs. We were encouraged to see the number of tickets entered, which showed everyone was doing their part to help each other make the West Rand a caring and active community in the upliftment of those in need,” Chanelle said.
