Warning: Blasting operations begin tomorrow on R41
Residents are advised to prepare for blasting operations starting tomorrow, August 19, at the Droogeheuwel Mega Civil Phase. Here’s what you should know:
New Era Blasting and Demolition will be commencing blasting operations between 14:00 and 16:00 on August 19 at the Droogheuwel Mega Civil Phase, which is situated on the R41.
According to manager André Myburgh, it will conclude on August 20. He further explained that the blasting will take place at the bulk sewer and stormwater line in the middle of the site.
“Site preparations are underway, and blasting signals will take place before the blasting starts. At the time of blasting, a five-minute siren will sound, whereafter the site will be evacuated.”
Myburgh noted flagmen will be allocated 30 minutes before the blasting to clear people from the site. The last signal will be given two minutes before the blasting starts.
He concluded that after the blasting has finished, a five-second whistle sound will signal employees to return to the site.
