RandWest SPCA seeks pets and sponsors for new calendar
To help raise funds, the RandWest SPCA decided to make their own calendar featuring local pets.
As a fundraising initiative, the RandWest SPCA is planning to bring out their very own calendar for 2026, hoping to beat last year’s total.
Fundraising volunteer Janine D’Alebout explained that they are putting together a calendar for next year and need to get all the artwork and sponsors on board by October 17. This will allow the SPCA to send the work to print in time before December.
Janine added that the SPCA is still searching for four sponsors who are willing to be part of this year’s calendar initiative.

In terms of the pets, she noted that the SPCA is still looking for two residents who want to make their animals part of the calendar. To qualify, a pet must ideally be adopted from the RandWest SPCA; however, some exceptions are made for pets adopted from other SPCA branches where RandWest SPCA conducted the inspections.
Fortunately, Janine emphasised that the SPCA accepts all kinds of pets, ranging from farm animals to exotic pets.
When submitting photographs of pets, Janine gave the following guidelines that residents must follow:
• The pet’s face should be clearly visible
• The photo should have good lighting
• There must be no people in the background, and the pet should be well-centred without being cut off
• Photos can be taken on a cellphone, but should not be blurry and must be high resolution

Orders for the calendar will close on October 31, and Janine explained that this deadline will help them determine how many calendars need to be printed. Calendars will cost R100 each, with courier fees varying from R30 to R70, depending on the area.
“We have decided to host this initiative to raise much-needed funds for the SPCA. These funds will ultimately assist us in responding to animal welfare needs in our allocated area, which is very big as it covers parts of Krugersdorp, Randfontein and Westonaria,” she said.
During last year’s initiative, the SPCA raised R14 000, and this year they hope to beat that number.
Residents can pre-order calendars by sending an email to [email protected] with details about how many calendars they would like, as well as their delivery address.
Janine stated that the SPCA will calculate the costs and send an invoice. The SPCA hopes the calendars will all be printed within the first week of December; however, they will keep residents updated on their Facebook Page at SPCA Randfontein & Westonaria.
