WATCH: New amapiano track delivers life advice
Umona is now available on all digital platforms, and Piano Descendants hope the song offers life advice to listeners.
Piano Descendants is more motivated than ever as they celebrate the release of their new song, Umona, hoping to inspire people to follow their dreams.
The band, formed in June, primarily performs versatile amapiano-style music. Its three members, Kenny Magasela, Musa Makalima and Vuyo Sekobane, aim to provide innovative sounds that resonate with listeners’ experiences.
According to their publisher, Kgotso Sefako, the track explores the lengths a person can go to harm another.

The band explained that the lyrics address emotions like jealousy and its impact on victims. Vuyo opens the song with intense lyrics, followed by Kenny, who highlights the dangers of toxic jealousy and advises against associating with jealous people. Musa created the beat, while Vuyo and Kenny contributed lyrics to deepen the song’s meaning.
“I had someone in my life who tried to hold me back from achieving success, but when God has something in store for you, it will remain yours,” said Kgotso.
During production, the band experienced a spiritual awakening that helped them blend raw talent with their dreams. The song features ‘bubble’, like sounds layered over an amapiano drum beat, which Kgotso said added originality.
Kgotso also battled swine flu during the publishing process, but despite challenges, the song was released on digital platforms. The band plans to take part in interviews and events to promote it.
“I hope listeners will take the song’s message to heart, recognising their own talent or finding hope when they need it,” he said.
