Casino aids abused women and children centre with R80k donation
Silverstar’s gaming promotion is making a real difference for abused women and children in the community.
A R85 000 donation to the Polokego Shelter for Abused Women and Children will go a long way.
This is thanks to Silverstar Casino’s Games for Good promotion.
Polokego is one of 16 shelters identified by the Department of Social Development that have consistently provided aid since its inception. The shelter assists abused women, children and victims of human trafficking.

“Polokego,” which means “safety” in Setswana, began in 1997 as a home for girls and has since evolved into a shelter for destitute and abused women and their children.

The shelter is accredited to assist all women who have experienced gender-based violence. Women and their children receive comfort, counselling, therapy, and skills training, helping them eventually become self-sufficient. After a few months at the home, many leave ready to support themselves and their families and become productive members of society.
