Grade 12 learner Mitchell Plaakie spoke about one of her first-term practical assignments. Using the theme of flight, she combined various colours and shapes to form her artwork. She noted that flowerism and surrealism could be seen in the piece. Her favourite part about the work is the butterfly that she painted.

Ciscano Hendricks used his term four practicals as a way to showcase his feelings. He used the theme bridge to incorporate dark undertones.

“This drawing portrays the life that we live in Toekomsrus. The face resembles a table with a cloth that is being pulled down.

My inspiration was the average problems that are currently happening in Toekomsrus. This mainly involves violence,” he expressed.

Another Grade 12 learner, Devin Ashton Sulemane named his artwork ‘My Identity’. The pencil and graphite drawing resembles an image where a woman pulls a man out of the mirror. Devin stated the man is a self-portrait.

There were plenty of artworks that showcased every learner’s unique art style.
