Thato Letsatsi, Grade One, said that during Easter, her family hides Easter eggs outside. She explained that her mother and grandmother hunt for the eggs with her, but her grandmother always wins.

“Easter is fun because you hide eggs and try to find them. If you find them, you can eat them. Sometimes my family goes on a trip and we eat meat, salad and dessert,” Grade Two learner Khanyisile Dlududa explained.

Rethabile Mogase, who is in Grade Three, said her family also hides Easter eggs.
“The person who finds all the eggs wins and gets a lot of money. My brother, father, uncle and auntie play together. Then we go to church and pray to God because Jesus died for our sins,” Rethabile mentioned.

Reitumetse Mpotoane, in Grade Four, said she loves going to church on Easter.
“I love going to church to celebrate Jesus’s rising from the grave. At church, they pray for us, and that makes me feel happy. It always feels like I am sitting next to God. I feel so emotional. It means a lot to me that we are celebrating this,” she said.

Grade Four learner Khwezi Motsoeneng said she enjoys Easter because her family comes from far away to visit. She added that they make a meaty meal and participate in a scavenger hunt.

“I love hunting for eggs. Easter means to celebrate together and to have fun because it’s not often we get to have fun together. It is a special holiday for families to gather and enjoy,” Jeandel Nushiya, Grade Six, expressed.
Grade Seven learner Ngcweti Msimango said he enjoys this holiday because they go to church to worship the Lord during Easter.
