I give up on the municipality

'We seriously need street lights.'

I am at a point where I have given up on our municipality and our government and the reason for this is that I have been living out on the plots for some time now and I feel as though the Randfontein Local Municipality is neglecting us.

What I mean by this is we are made to stay in an area that has no lighting in the streets and that’s rather disturbing. It is really dangerous as criminals are doing as they please whenever it suits them and this is rather upsetting.

What is more upsetting is the fact that our municipality is dragging its feet when it comes to attending to such complaints and we as residents always have to pay the price.

As it stands, some of us find it difficult to go to the shops after 6pm because you never know what might happen.

It’s really not nice knowing you have become a prisoner in your own home because of crime and knowing very well that the municipality is doing very little to ensure that our communities are safe.
