One day, ‘Killer trees’ might fall onto our house
'I have been reporting this issue for the past seven years, nobody seems to be listening'
To whom it may concern (The South African Post Office Services).
I hereby wish to lodge a complaint regarding the one tree inside Kocksoord Post office. The tall tree inside the Post Office is a danger to me, my family, my neighbours, and also to the Post Office employees as well.
The tree has to be taken out, as I think one day if there was to be a storm or heavy rains it might fall onto our house, the Post Office Building or even our neighbour’s houses.
Two weeks ago, one of the trees inside the Post Office yard was uprooted by rain. Fortunately no one was injured.
There has been no effort to take the fallen tree out or even repair the damaged fence. I have pictures showing my friends working to remove the fallen tree out of the Post Office Yard and repair the damaged fence.
I have been reporting this issue including clean, cutting of grass in the Kocksoord Post Office for the past seven years and nobody seems to be listening or doing anything about all of this. At one stage I offered to cut the grass, using my own grass cutter and electricity at a small fee for me electricity but was told that the Post Office Regional Office had to give the go ahead. I am told that the person who was hired to cut the grass and clean the yard has still not been paid
My friends and I tried to cut the tree but unfortunately it is too tall and we don’t have the means to remove or cut it.
I am also told that this issue has also been reported in our local newspaper (The Randfontein Herald) but again no action was taken.
Must someone die or get injured before action is taken to address this? Should we resort to other means like destroy property as it has been seen in other parts of our beautiful country before a simple service delivery action is taken?
Give us (community of Kocksoord) the tools and you will see us doing this for free. Someone is getting paid a fat salary to perform this duties but they are not doing that.
By the way, I like trees but they have to be well looked after.
