House flooded for years, can you please help?

When the water comes into the house, it reaches my knees (I am 1,65 cm) tall ... it’s dangerous and heartbreaking.

Our house has been flooded by rain water for the past two, if not three, years.

The matter was brought to the attention of the councillor for the area. The councillor picked an argument when I said that my niece’s life was almost taken away by the water as it came into the house while she was sleeping on the floor.

The councillor has been nothing but aggressive and argumentative, failing to understand our frustrations.

We have spoken to our neighbours about opening holes in walls to allow the water to pass, but that has failed, and we have called in the Herald to help us get the message across, with no success as yet.

We appreciate with all our hearts that there is a tar road in place – but the water still floods inside our house. We cannot put any construction in place because of our fears.

My mother has been admitted to hospital because of the situation – it’s a depressing matter and very unpleasant to watch all our furniture deteriorating because of water and sand.

The rain is no one’s fault as God blessed us with it.

We as a family plead with you to help us with a drainage system and addressing the neighbours about this crisis.

Sincerely.
