LETTER: A patient’s grateful experience

Resident and patient Nwabisa Ngqondela is pleased with the 'satisfactory service' received at a local private hospital.

• Nwabisa Ngqondela writes:

I would like to take this opportunity to publicly express my heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Lenmed Randfontein Hospital for the outstanding care I received during my admission from March 31 to April 2.

From the moment I arrived at the Casualty Department, I was treated professionally and compassionately. The attending doctor and nursing team ensured I was cared for swiftly and thoroughly, easing my anxiety and making me feel safe. Their kindness and attention to detail made a lasting impression, and I am truly grateful.

My stay in the Medical Ward was also handled with care. The nursing staff worked hard to meet patient needs.

I also want to extend my sincere thanks to the Radiology Department, particularly the woman who assisted with my X-rays and the one who transported me via wheelchair. One of them even remembered me from a previous admission in 2023. That level of personal recognition meant a great deal to me and reflects the deep humanity of the staff at Lenmed.

A very special thank you goes to Dr Van Rensburg and Dr Shudu. Your ability to make patients feel at ease, listened to, and cared for is truly a gift. Your ongoing support helped turn a stressful time into something manageable and even uplifting.

Lastly, I must commend the case manager and credit controller who stepped in to resolve an issue with my medical aid. After contacting my medical aid provider, I was directed to the hospital’s case manager. The speed and professionalism with which the issue was handled were commendable. Your understanding and proactive communication made a potentially frustrating situation smooth and easy.

In closing, thank you to everyone at Lenmed Randfontein Hospital for your dedication, compassion, and professionalism. Your collective effort made my experience one of care, dignity, and respect.

You reminded me that in moments of illness, there is still kindness and excellence in the world.
