Amajimbos end tour with fourth win

Team soon off to Tanzania for 2015 African Youth Championship qualifier.

South Africa Under-17 side finished off their tour of Botswana and Lesotho with four victories in as many games after they posted a 1-0 win over Lesotho on Sunday.

Amajimbos saw off a spirited Lesotho at Setsoto Stadium in Maseru just days after beating the same team 2-0 at Mafeteng Stadium.

The encounter was the last match before Amajimbos will head off to Tanzania on Tuesday in order to participate in the 2015 African Youth Championship qualifier that will take place on Friday, 18 July.

Lesotho started off as the better of the two sides but it was the visitors who took the lead in the 23rd minute through Vuyo Mkatshana.

The lead could have been increased in the 41st minute, but Mkatshana was denied by upright despite the opposition goalkeeper, Ramalefane Monaheng, being well beaten.

South Africa finished off the second stanza with some possession football but they missed some chances to add on to their odd goal.

How they lined up:

South Africa U17: 16-Mondli Mpoto (GK) (c), 2-Simon Nqoi, 10-Notha Ngcobo, 4-Katlego Mohamme, 15-Keanu Cupido, 6-Athenkosi Dlala (Tshepiso Mahlangu), 7-Vuyo Mantjie (Charles Baloyi), 19-Samuel Nkomo (Thendo Mukumela), 17-Khanyisa Mayo (Edwin Sekhwama) 9-Vuyo Mkatshana, 18-Benedict Matlawe (Felix Noge, replaced injured) (Thato Ramogogodi)
