All systems go for Silver Salvo bout

"Ryno and Grachev are two guys who will slug it out from beginning to end."

The five-fight bill for next weekend’s Chesa Nyama “Silver Salvo” tournament which is set to take place at Emperors Palace on August 9 has been signed off.

The two top-liners will feature Ryno Liebenberg and Thabo Sonjica in separate title bouts and will be supplemented by Kevin Lerena’s international cruiserweight fight against Marcos Antonio Ahumada, Ashley Dlamini against Thanduxolo Gatyeni in the junior-lightweight and an exciting junior-flyweight bout between Thabang Ramagole and Olwethu Ngamlana.

“We’ve tried very carefully to match fighters who will produce good action,” explained promoter Rodney Berman.

“The main fight – Silver Salvo – doesn’t need any selling: Ryno and Grachev are two guys who will slug it out from beginning to end. And we know what sort of power and excitement Kevin Lerena brings to the ring. Ahumada can punch too, so it could be very entertaining.

“Gauteng fans will also be treated to a very special talent in Thabo Sonjica. Experience has taught me that fighters from the Mzi Mnguni stable are always a class above.”

Golden Gloves and HotBox are also inviting fans to attend an open day at HotBox at noon on Wednesday where world-ranked light-heavyweight Ryno Liebenberg will be going through his paces.

Liebenberg is said to be in tip-top shape and raring to get going against Grachev, a former IKF Muay Thai world light-cruiserweight champion who has promised to put an end to the unbeaten boxer’s run.
