The two jumpers to line-up against each other to compete for gold today.

South Africa’s Rushwahl Samaai and Zarck Visser qualified for Wednesday’s long jump final at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

Visser bounced back from a first no jump to launch himself to an impressive 7.99 meters, exceeding the automatic distance by nine centimetres and heading the group B contenders.

Meanwhile, Samaai got off the mark in Group A to record a jump of 8.03m and England’s Olympic gold medallist Greg Rutherford only bettered his result with a posting of 8.05m.

The two jumpers will line-up against each other to compete for the gold medal on Wednesday afternoon.

Also representing South Africa in the men’s 800m race was Andre Olivier, who finished first in his heat in a time of one minute, 47.93 seconds (1:47.93).
