RCC Premier B side cruise past Old Parks

Locals reach target of 135 with 15 overs to spare.

Randfontein Cricket Club’s Premier B side did the club and community proud following their 5 wicket victory against Old Parks in a recent 50-over match.

Randfontein won the toss and decided to send in the opposition first. The two opening bowlers struck early in the innings and had Old Parks in trouble.

With some great bowling spells from the locals Old Parks could only manage an innings total of 135.

During their innings, Randfontein lost an early wicket. Captain Aldo van den Berg and Melt Louw then put up a fairly decent partnership but it did not last long.

Eduan van Heerden and Ruan Mcalister then stabilized the innings and kept the scoreboard ticking. With van Heerden out shortly after, Mcalister and Jimmy Reynolds went on to win the game with the scoreboard standing at 136 for 5 in the 35th over.

The best batsman for Randfontein was Ruan Mcalister who scored 43 not out followed by Melt Louw’s 37. The Best bowlers were Malcom Faddy who took 3 wickets for just 23 in his 10 overs. He was well backed up by Eduard Pieterse who took 2 wickets for 28 runs in eight overs.
