Boxing Club’s final round for 2014

Randfontein Boxing Club exits the year with 10 medals in total.

Before the Randgate Boxing Club breaks up for the festive season it was decided to take a look back at what was achieved in 2014.

The club will have its closing picnic as per tradition in December and will re-open in the second week of January.

There are a small group of boxers who will be practicing throughout the festive season in preparation of the boxing Round Robin Tournament in February, 2015. These boxers are Harry Joubert, Fernando Rodrigues and Francisco Rodrigues.

The club has produced many boxers that have competed at the South African Championships. Five gold medals were awarded to respective boxers, one sliver and four bronze.

Boxers at the club have competed across the board; from school boys and girls, junior division, youth division and elite division.

The overall results for 2014 are as follows:

• SA School boys and School girls Championships

– Amorie Gonzalves – Gold (Girl)

– Ernest Da Silva – Bronze (Boy)

• SA Championships – Junior Division

– Phillemon Matlana – Bronze

– Karina Klaase – Gold

• SA Championships – Youth Division

– Christie Klaase – Gold

– Tertius Joubert – Silver

– Delano Dobson – Bronze

• SA Championships – Elite Division

– Bernice Van Heerden – Bronze

– Fernando Rodrigues – Gold

– Francisco Rodrigues – Gold
