Young Henning Buitendag moved up the ranks from U/21 level to Randfontein Rugby Club's first team.

To play in any first team is not only an achievement but shows the skill level and maturity of a sportsman or woman.

While he is still young, he is like a seasoned rugby player on the field and will bring new blood and enthusiasm to team Teine.

Mapogo Teine, the club’s first team, has been going from strength to strength, beating their long-time rivals, Roodepoort Rugby Club time and time again. They have been on a winning streak and have been victorious in 15 matches since the beginning of the 2016/ 2017 rugby season.

Henning is joining a team that eats, sleeps and drinks rugby, and he is proudly wearing the number 6 Mapogo Teine jersey.

His debut on the field was on Saturday, 8 April against Wits University. He was in the starting line-up and was part of the team that beat the boys in blue at the House of Pain (Mapogo Teine’s home grounds).

Jacques Conradie, U/21 coach said he is sad to see Henning go but is glad he is reaching freater heights within the club.
