RAMKat archer rises to fame

Casey-Lee Adam of the RAMKat Archery team is a rising star in the sport.

A Grade Sever learner at The King’s School West Rand, Casey-Lee Adam, has been hitting all the right spots in archery competitions and making a name for herself as an archer on point.

Casey-Lee started with archery in 2023 when she joined the Randfontein-based club Inyathi, which offers an after-school archery programme for West Rand learners. She soon decided that she wanted to be part of a team, joining the RAMKat Archery team of Laerskool Randfontein, shooting as part of the team while also representing the King’s School West Rand.

Her rise to archery fame started in March 2023, when she took part in the Robin’s Bullseye Challenge in Raslouw, Pretoria, where she and her RAMKat team finished second.

Some months later, she took part in the Ekurhuleni Provincial Archery Competition held in Randfontein, where she clinched a silver medal (second place) in the Female Bullseye Junior as well as the Female 3D Junior divisions, finishing second overall.

Based on these achievements, she was chosen for the Ekurhuleni provincial team, at the Africa Genesis Archery South Africa (AGA-SA) competitions, representing both the provincial and national teams, finishing third overall out of 900 archers at the AGA IPC Nationals.

In February, as part of the RAMKat archery team, she took part in the AGA Bullseye competition and finished first in the junior girls division, helping her team secure a silver medal.

Her latest feat came early in March at the Riebeeckrand Archery AGA Bullseye competition, where she once again took the junior girls’ title, and helped her team secure second place.
