Slapping for a good cause
Slap fighter Travis MacGregor will use his upcoming bout to raise awareness for several causes close to his heart.
As Travis MacGregor prepares for the upcoming super heavyweight Punisher Slap Fight #15, he also plans to use the moment to show support for cancer awareness, diabetes, and gender-based violence (GBV).
Travis is currently training for his fight on November 29 at Carnival City, where he will face Dewalt Nagel.
“Although I am nervous for the fight, it means a lot to me because I’ve worked my way up the ranks to get to number one,” he said.
Travis explained that his preparation includes strength training, jaw conditioning and mental discipline. According to him, negative thinking prevents any athlete from reaching the top.
Despite his intense preparation, he believes his biggest challenge may be his opponent’s height.

“Still, I will move him out of the way so that I can reach my goals. I have trained hard for that moment,” he added.
During the match, Travis will sport pink, blue and green hair – each colour representing a cause: Cancer, diabetes, and men’s mental health. He will also wear a purple shirt to raise awareness for GBV.
Having lost family members to cancer, the cause is close to his heart. Travis will also be honouring diabetes patients, including his eldest son, who lives with type 1 diabetes.
“Not many people represent causes and actually put it out there. I am doing that, and I will continue until the day I retire. My platform will always be used to support those who need it most,” he noted.
Through his efforts, Travis hopes to inspire both the youth and the wider community.
