“One suspect is linked to a cash-in-transit robbery that occurred in July this year at a mall in Pretoria,” police said in a statement.
The group of five were said to have been arrested when police and other law-enforcement agencies followed up on information about an armed gang which was going to commit an armed robbery in the Johannesburg area.
The group was arrested in the Bedfordview area.

The other law enforcement agencies involved included crime intelligence, Ekurhuleni and Benoni Flying Squad, Gauteng Traffic Police Saturation Unit, Tracker Connect, Bad Boyz Security, Ekurhuleni district operations team and BSG Security.
“A VW Gold 5 GTI and Toyota Hilux that matched the description given were spotted travelling to the Bedfordview direction,” the statement said.
