Menlyn Park hosts Africa’s biggest LEGO fan experience in Pretoria

Master builders, collectors, and families gathered in Pretoria as millions of colourful bricks formed sprawling cityscapes and fantasy realms.

Menlyn Park Shopping Centre hosted Brickfair 2026, billed as the largest LEGO fan event on the African continent, on October 24 and 25.

Presented in partnership with Great Yellow Brick and Brickfair, the event transformed the centre into a celebration of creativity, imagination, and artistry, bringing together LEGO enthusiasts, families, collectors, and master builders from across South Africa and beyond.

Brickfair 2026 showcased the art of LEGO building, featuring millions of LEGO pieces assembled into displays.

According to Willi Badenhorst, one of the organisers of Brickfair, the partnership with Menlyn Park continues to play a critical role in growing the LEGO building community and making the event accessible to an even wider audience.

“Together, we are bringing Africa’s largest LEGO fan event to thousands of visitors while celebrating the incredible artistry that can be achieved with LEGO bricks. Menlyn provides the perfect environment for builders, families and enthusiasts to come together and share their passion.”

The exhibition took place in the passageways surrounding the LEGO Certified Store at Menlyn Park throughout the weekend.

Menlyn Park Shopping Centre general manager Nisha Kemraj said the centre focused on continually enhancing the shopping experience by bringing meaningful activations to customers.

Kemraj said: “Events such as Brickfair add another dimension to our retail offering, creating reasons for customers to spend more time at the centre while engaging with brands and retailers in a memorable way.”

“Brickfair has become one of the most anticipated events on our annual calendar because it appeals to a broad audience, from dedicated LEGO enthusiasts to families looking for a unique day out,” said Kemraj.

She said hosting the event helped differentiate Menlyn Park in a competitive retail environment and reinforced its positioning as a shopping destination that delivered engaging experiences.

”We are proud to partner with the Brickfair team and Great Yellow Brick to bring this extraordinary event to our community.”

Interactive activities for families

Beyond the exhibition displays, visitors participated in a variety of interactive activities throughout the weekend.

LEGO South Africa hosted dedicated play areas where children enjoyed free building activities, colouring-in stations, and hands-on LEGO fun. Aspiring builders also had the chance to take part in build competitions held during the event.

A major highlight was the official Brickfair Build Competition, where entrants showcased their creations for judging on Saturday, ahead of the Sunday prize-giving ceremony. Builders interested in competing or exhibiting can register via Brickfair South Africa.
