Pura’s kidnappers in court

The kidnappers of seven-year-old Pura Pahlo have appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court.

The kidnappers of seven-year-old Pura Pahlo have appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court, police said on Monday.

Warrant Officer Annabel said Pura’s biological father, Ray, a woman and four Zimbabwean men appeared in court on Friday.

“All of the accused appeared in court and were denied bail. They face charges of kidnapping, conspiracy to commit a crime, child abuse and contempt of court.”

The case was postponed to Friday, December 14.

“We are glad that they are all behind bars where they belong,” Evan Andreou, Pura’s foster father said on Monday.

Andreou told Rekord that Pura was still quite stressed by the events.

Pura was allegedly kidnapped in front of the Waterkloof Primary School on Wednesday.

Four men, who posed as police officers, allegedly dragged Pura’s foster mother, Kim Andreou, from the car.

Ray then allegedly grabbed Pura before he fled.

Police managed to arrest the four men.

Ray and the woman, in her early thirties, speaking with an American accent checked in at a guesthouse in Lydenburg, Mpumalanga, with Pura.

The owner of the guesthouse alerted police after she recognised Pura from photos on the Internet. Both Ray and the woman were arrested before they were brought back to Pretoria.

The girl was reunited with her foster family on Thursday.
