Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run accident

A pedestrian was recently killed in a hit-and-run accident on the corner of Hendrik Verwoerd Avenue and Rooihuiskraal Road.
According to Captain Agnus Huma, spokeswoman for the Wierdabrug police, the man was hit by a vehicle, a silver or gold Toyota Fortuner, on the evening of 23 October and was killed instantly.
“The police are searching for more information regarding the deceased man. The only information about the victim we have is his ethnicity and a possible first name. He was a white male, probably in his thirties, known as Rudi.”
It is believed that the driver of a the Fortuner fled the scene of the accident. The registration number is unknown.
According to Huma, a case of culpable homicide has been opened. The police request that if any member of the public has further information regarding the deceased or the registration number of the vehicle, they contact Detective Constable De Waal from Wierdabrug on 082-078-2790.
