Police clear the streets of criminals
The Wonderboompoort police ensured that justice reigned when they recently arrested 11 criminals for their involvement in various criminal acts throughout the Moot area.
The long arm of the law recently reached into the lives of 11 hardened criminals when determined Wonderboompoort police officers made it their mission to rid the streets of unwanted elements.
Warrant officers Alfred Matlou and Alta Rudolph arrested three men for the possession of vehicle break-in equipment. The officers were driving in Louis Trichardt Street when they noticed a Honda driving from east to west. The driver of the vehicle seemed suspicious, whereupon the officers stopped and approached the vehicle.
“The members then searched the alleged suspects and found an ignition in one’s possession. He told the officers that he was taking it to his uncle as a part of a vehicle. Upon further investigation, they found one glove, two LM keys, a screwdriver and a bridge wire,” Warrant Officer Wanda Olivier, spokesperson for the police, said.
She added that the officers arrested a 30-year-old man from Limpopo for being in possession of dagga. She said they were patrolling Capital Park in Malherbe Street when they noticed a suspicious motorist who had pulled off next to the road. The man and vehicle were searched and police then confiscated dagga.
In another incident, Matlou and Sergeant Reginald Netile arrested a man in possession of suspected stolen property. The man was walking along the road when the officers noticed he was carrying a child’s backpack. During their initial search they found a variety of tools. “During their questioning, the suspect could not give an explanation as to where he got the tools from.”
They arrested him on suspicion of stolen property. The suspect is also a wanted person for a house break-in in the Sinoville policing area,” Olivier said. Other arrests include four pupils who had allegedly stolen a cell phone from one of their peers.
They admitted to the theft and the property was returned to its owner.
Another two suspects were also arrested by the Mabopane police for their involvement in vehicle theft in the Les Marais area. “The suspects have been detained at the Wonderboompoort police station and will be charged for the theft of a motor vehicle,” Olivier said.
