Two cops in court for rape of teenager

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) on Thursday said two police officers were expected to appear in the Atteridgeville Magistrate's Court for allegedly raping a teenager.

Two police officers, who have been arrested for allegedly raping a 17-year-old teenager, were expected to appear in Atteridgeville Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) spokesman Moses Dlamini said the officers, aged 22 and 51, allegedly raped a teenager on the 27th September.

“The two officers stopped at a local tavern where the girl was fighting with her boyfriend. They apparently threatened her boyfriend and told her to get into their police van, promising they would take her home.

“The officers then allegedly stopped the vehicle in the middle of no where and ordered her to get into the back of the van before raping her. They then dropped her off at a nearby police station.”

According to Dlamini the officers were arrested on the 5th of November after being identified by both the girl and her boyfriend.
