Recovering addict caught with dagga
A man was arrested on Tuesday by the Wonderboompoort police for being in possession of dagga. According to the suspect, he bought the dagga to prevent himself from using heroin.

Whether on duty or not, a police officer’s calling is to put criminals behind bars.
Warrant officers Daniel Bruwer, dressed in full uniform, and Jacques Oosthuizen, who was on leave at the time, were on their way back to the station on Tuesday after attending a monthly station lecture. On their way back to their office, they noticed a suspicious 27-year-old man on the corner of Fred Nicholson and Paul Kruger streets.
During the officers’ enquiries, the suspect informed them that he had just arrived from the Pretoria West Hospital where he underwent medical testing. “He also confirmed that he had just left rehabilitation after using heroin,” said Warrant Officer Wanda Olivier, spokesperson for the Wonderboompoort police station.
The officers searched the suspect and found dagga in his possession.
Olivier said that the suspect explained to the police that he was afraid of falling back into his old habit of using heroin after two days out of rehab, so he bought dagga.
The suspect will appear in the Pretoria magistrate’s court soon.
