Stray dog almost cut in half – WARNING: Graphic images

A stray Jack Russel had to be put down due to a severe cut made to its body.

A stray Jack Russel that was recently rescued by a local business, was found on Thursday morning with a massive cut around its waist. The wound was so bad that the animal had to be put down.

According to Rachel Raats, a member of the Pretoria North Sector 2 Policing-forum, she received a call from a local business owner stating that a stray Jack Russel they were caring for had been brutally mutilated.

“The business owners found the stray dog a few days ago and were caring for it. The dog got lost recently and they assumed that it had returned to its owners. But this morning the dog returned bruised and battered with a massive cut around its waist .”

Raats said that the dog was bleeding excessively and that they immediately took it to the Florandia animal clinic in Pretoria North.

Dr. Willie Cilliers from the Florandia animal clinic said that the dog suffered from a severe laceration around its abdomen.

“The cut was almost 80% around the dog’s abdomen.”

Cilliers said that the dog also had bite marks on its body that had apparently been made after the massive cut which may have been made by a knife or even a trap.

Cilliers confirmed that the seriously injured Jack Russel was put down on Thursday morning.

Raats alleged that the dog might have been wounded by an intruder that wanted to break into the business.

She also stated that they will be opening a case at the local police station.
