Spot the danger zones

Members of the public are warned to be careful when driving in a number of areas in the capital city.

Members of the public are warned by the police to be careful when driving along the Ben Schoeman highway, Jean Avenue, Old Johannesburg Road, Uitsig/Nellmapius Road, Trichardt Street, the R55, N14 and in and around Olievenhoutbosch.

According to police, these areas are targeted by criminals and many motorists have been victims of smash and grab crime. Captain Agnus Huma of the Wierdabrug police station said that criminal activities like these escalated during the festive season and that people should apply safety tips all the time.

She said people should be alert between 06:00 and 08:00 in the mornings and again in the evenings between 17:00 and 20:00 especially. She further warned the public to be on the lookout for suspicious people when stopping at the robots and to remember to put valuables in the boot of their cars.
