Woman killed by petrol station robbers

A woman died after being attacked and shot at when an armed robbery took place at a fuel station in Centurion.

A woman was shot on Saturday evening at a fuel station in Gateway near the Old Johannesburg Road when an armed robbery took place. According to Pierre Viviers, chairperson of the Sector 2 Wierdabrug Community Policing Forum, (CPF), camera footage showed three suspects entering the store, one of whom was in possession of a firearm. Viviers suspected that it might have been a revolver.

“A woman parked her vehicle outside the store when one of the suspects walked out of the store and opened her door. He tried to take her handbag but she fought back. The suspect tried to pull her out of the car,” Viviers explained. “Another suspect approached the woman’s vehicle and fired one shot at her from the front,” Viviers confirmed, after watching the footage.

It appeared that the bullet entered her right hip. The first suspect continued to struggle with her and tried to pull her out of the car by her feet. He fled with some of her belongings, Viviers said.

The suspects who shot the woman returned to the robbery they were engaged in that took place in the store and according to the video footage, all three men walked out of the store 30 seconds later and drove off in their vehicle.

According to a tweet from Crime Lookout, the suspects left in a Silver Audi A4 with a registration number WZG024GP.

According to Viviers, the incident took place just before midnight on Saturday evening. A bystander took the woman to the nearest clinic where she was declared dead. The police have not yet been available for comment.
