Motorists will be faced with more road closures as the Lynnwood Road and University Street intersection will be closed until 16 December for the construction of the A Re Yeng Bus Service.
“The construction will be done to upgrade the existing road, add dedicated turning lanes and upgrade the side walks,” said Tshwane spokesperson, Selby Bokaba. The affected area will be fully operational on Tuesday, 17 December. Road users are advised to use alternative routes and Tshwane has suggested several detours:
· To travel north of University Street: turn left into Walton Jameson Street, right into Jorissen Street and left at the traffic circle into Kirkness Street, right in Park Street and right again to continue to Burnett Street.
· To travel South of University Street: travelling on Burnett Street facing west, turn left into Park Street, left in Kirkness Street and right at the traffic circle into Jorissen Street, then turn left into Walton Jameson Street and right to continue in a southerly direction along University Road.
· To travel west: travelling from east to west on Lynnwood Road, turn left into Roper Street, right in Justice Mohamed Street (Walker Street), right in University Road and left in Walton Jameson Street to continue in a westerly direction.
· To travel east: use Justice Mohamed Street to travel from west to east. Turn left into Roper Street and right into Lynnwood Road to continue in an easterly direction.
