Pretoria residents are urged to switch-off all non-essential equipment after Eskom announced that the power system was extremely constrained on Friday (21 November), the Tshwane metro said on their website.
This comes after Eskom implemented stage 1 of load shedding on Friday. However, Tshwane is currently not affected.
The metro said load reduction would take place from 09:30 to 22:00.
Meanwhile, Eskom said power stations are experiencing unforeseen technical problems of depleted water reserves as the water is used to generate electricity.
“As a result, Eskom has implemented stage 1 load shedding on Friday (21 November) from 13:00 until 20:00. Load shedding will recommence again on Saturday and Sunday at 09:00 in order to build up reserves for the week ahead,” said the power utility.
Eskom appeals to consumers to switch off geysers, air conditioners, pool pumps and all non-essential appliances throughout the day to limit the impact of rotational load shedding.
