Commuters had been informed that the city’s brand new pride, the A Re Yeng rapid bus system, will not operate on certain public holidays this year.
A Re Yeng will not run on 25 December, 26 December 2014 and 1 January 2015, mayoral spokesman Lebogang Matjie announced.
“We urge commuters to make alternative travel arrangements to avoid any inconvenience,” she said
Matjie added that Tshwane Bus Services (TBS) commuters were also advised to make use of alternative transport, as buses will not be operational from 25 December 2014 until 4 January 2015.
“The decision to close the service is based on the recorded poor use of buses and the consequent low income from the bus service in the festive period over the past few years,” she said.
Normal bus operations will resume on Monday 5 January 2015.
A Re Yeng and TBS used the opportunity to thank all the commuters for their continuous support this year and wished them a joyful festive period.
