More heavy rain expected

Heavy rains and some flooding is expected.

The South African Weather Service has issued a warning, saying it was expecting more heavy rain in Pretoria tonight as well as in the rest of the north-eastern parts of the country.

According to the weather service, cloudy and cooler conditions will continue to dominate the central and eastern parts of the country, including the whole of Pretoria over the weekend, with a significant increase in the chance and quantity of rain expected to fall.

It was likely that 50mm of rain or more would fall in the next 24 hours, which could lead to flooding in places in Gauteng, the North West, Limpopo, the north eastern Free State and Mpumalanga.

Due to this, the weather service urged holidaymakers and communities along riverine environments to be on high alert.

Low water bridges were also prone to flooding, and the weather service says motorists should be on high alert, especially at night or when visibility was limited.
