Father of two killed in crash

A loving husband and father died on Saturday night after his motorcycle collided with a vehicle.

A husband and a father of two small children from Laudium was killed in a horrific motorcycle accident in Pretoria central on Saturday night.

The 33-year-old Lucky Malik was on his way home when his Honda CBR superbike collided with another vehicle. Malik was pronounced dead on the scene.

Malik’s wife, Poonam (Dolly) got worried when he was not home by 19:30 after she spoke to him just after 18:00.

“When she phoned Lucky’s cellphone a paramedic answered and said she needs to get to the scene immediately,” Mineel Mohan, Malik’s brother-in-law and family spokesperson, said on Monday.

He said Malik was already dead when Poonam and other family members arrived. It was not immediately clear what happened and police were investigating.

“Lucky was a very generous and kindhearted person. He cared for everyone in our family and was always ready to help others. He will be sorely missed,” Mohan said.

Although Malik had an intense love for motorcycles, he was first and foremost a family man.

“He took pride in both his two sons and loved my sister dearly. He never hesitated to help wherever he could,” Mohan said.

Malik had been actively involved in the Black Knights bikers’ club for the past three years. He had a deep love for motorcycles.

Poonam and family members held a memorial service for Malik on Sunday, with members from the Black Knights also in attendance. “We are very grateful for their support during this time,” Mohan said.

Malik’s family, except for his younger brother Salman, lives in Lahore, Pakistan.

Salman lived with Malik and Poonam in Laudium.

Salman, Poonam and other family members are flying Malik’s body back on Monday to Lahore for family members to pay their respect and where he will be buried.

Malik leaves behind his wife and two sons, Armaan (7) and Ayaan (4).
