Stage 1 load-shedding will be introduced at 17:00 on Tuesday and will run until 22:00, Eskom said.
“This is due to a shortage of generator capacity as several units are currently out of service due to maintenance,” the power utility said in a statement.
Eskom said even though the power grid would not meet the demand of 1000MW, 96% of the country would continue to receive power supply at the same time.
It urged people to use power sparingly and to switch off non-essential appliances, geysers, pool pumps and air conditioners.
