Water overflows mini power substation
A burst water pipe has caused power outage in Centurion.
Residents of Manor House, Die Hoewes, have been left in the dark after a water pipe apparently burst right underneath a mini power substation in the area, early Sunday morning.
According to Clive Napier, Democratic Alliance (DA) ward councillor of the area, Tshwane metro has been informed of the problem and are already busy repairing the damage.
Ina Strydom, DA ward councillor and spokesperson of electricity, said residents in the area might experience a loss of both water supply and electricity, while the metro is working on the problem.
“Because it seems to be a broken water pipe, water supply to the area will be cut off, in order to repair the pipe, after which they will attend to the electricity problem. While the water supply should be restored within a few hours, the electricity re-connection might take some time. Everything will need to be dried completely before electricity can be restored,” said Strydom.
According to Strydom, metro workers have already turned off the water supply to the area and is busy repairing the damage.
