Power restored in Faerie Glen

Faerie Glen residents are now with power after an outage on Sunday.

Power in Faerie Glen was restored on Sunday night after a substation blew up in the area, leaving residents without electricity on Mother’s Day.

Ward 44 councillor Karen Meyer said power returned just after midnight.

She said the outage happened between 08:00 and 11:00 just after stage 1 load-shedding.

“There was a major crisis at the Faerie Glen substation as it blew up. Technicians managed to restore power at 00:15,” she said.

She said outages have increased in the last year due to lack of maintenance at substations.

“We hope the mayor would address this issue at the State of the Capital Address on Thursday,” she said.
