Police employee arrested for stealing car
A man working for the police was arrested after he was found in possession of a stolen police car.
A 42-year-old civilian member of the police was arrested when he was found in possession of a stolen police vehicle on the N1 highway, police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said.
The accused, an employee at the South African Police Service‘s provincial office, was detained with three of his accomplices after the vehicle was traced at the Pumulani Toll Plaza on Saturday afternoon.
Dlamini said the vehicle belonged to the provincial fleet and was stolen in the Booysens area.
He could not confirm when the vehicle was stolen.
“The three men are being held at the Sinoville police station and will appear in court soon,” said Dlamini.
