Six cats killed in Faerie Glen
Cats poisoned in three weeks in Faerie Glen complex.

No fewer than six cats have been poisoned in a residential complex in Faerie Glen the past three weeks.
Amy Blaine, trustee chairperson of the Faerieview complex, said residents were deeply concerned. Stray cats were among those killed.
“People have been urged to look out for poison that has been put out in, for example, chicken livers. To the one doing this, shame on you. This is the most awful thing to do to any living creature.”
Another resident, who asked not to be named, said indications were that the same individual was behind the killings.
“Autopsies were performed on all the cats, and all of them were found to have been poisoned with a blue-green substance that appears to be snail bait. Once a toxicology report has been finalised, charges will be laid with the police and the SPCA.”
She said the effects of the poison were horrendous.
“The cats start bleeding internally, and their lungs fill up with blood. They start vomiting, get diarrhoea, become paralysed and eventually die. It is a horrible death.”
Blaine said the Faerieview trustee board had been in contact with Be Wise Sterilize and Cat Pals in order to start a feeding station for feral cats on an open piece of land close to the complex.
The aim of the station will be to capture and sterilise feral cats in the area.
“Once the station is up and running, we would love for the community to become involved with the project.”
