Teen found dead with legs cut off

A grade 12 pupil’s partially burnt body with her legs cut off was discovered by community members on Wednesday in Mothulung, west of Ga-Rankuwa.

A 19-year-old girl’s naked body with her legs cut off was found on Wednesday in a secluded area in Mothulung, west of Ga-Rankuwa.

Police spokesperson Kealeboga Molale said three men had been arrested in connection with an assault linked to the discovery of Reneilwe Seloadi’s body.

They would appear in the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

They apparently assaulted a man they believed was behind the attack on the girl.

“The men, all in their 30’s, are accused of assaulting a local man with hard objects, accusing him of being behind the murder of a local girl,” she said.

She said Seloadi’s body was found by locals with her legs severed and her lower body partially burned.

She was a grade 12 pupil from Amandasig Secondary School.

Sanet Jacobs, principal of Amandasig Secondary School said on Thursday that Seloadi’s death comes as a big shock. “Her death is a big loss to school and we will miss her energetic personality.”

“This gruesome discovery of her body comes three days after she was reported missing at a local police station. No arrest has been made in connection with her murder,” Molale said.

She said it was hoped the three arrested men would help police get to the bottom of Seloadi’s death.

Mmakau cluster police commander Colonel Letlhogonolo Gause called on members of the community of Mothutlung and the surrounding areas to assist in the investigation.

“Our investigating team in this case will not rest until the culprits are brought to book,” said Gause.
