Footage shows lightning strike Delta Airlines at airport

Video footage went viral this week of a Delta Airline aircraft being struck by lightning at an airport.

A Delta Airlines aircraft was struck by lightning on Wednesday and a passenger captured video footage which immediately went viral.

 

Taken from the Atlanta Hartsfield Airport in the US, the footage shows various parked planes drenched in rain after flights were postponed due to the weather.

 

The lightning is seen striking the back of the Delta aircraft.

 

According to reports, commercial aircrafts were designed to withstand lightning strikes. The planes metal exterior distributes the electrical charge around the outside of the plane without affecting the inside.
